CUTE ALERT: Panda cub is getting big!

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The giant panda cub is growing and weighs 9.68 pounds now.

She measures 18.11 inches around her belly. Her nose is starting to lose it's pink color and turn black similar to an adult panda nose. 

Zoo officials said she is crawling with a lot more control now.

Giant panda Mei Xiang gave birth to a cub at the Smithsonian's National Zoo on August 23, 2013. The cub is healthy and growing quickly! It is Chinese tradition to celebrate the name of a new life on the 100th day, and we need your help picking the name! 

Caught on cam: Rats and same DC restaurants re-closed

Washington, DC (WUSA9) --  Two times. Three times.  Repeat health hazards at DC restaurants - from Dupont Circle to the Palisades - have resulted in closure orders at the same places.

In second or third suspensions, inspectors temporarily closed: Heritage India, 1633 P Street, NW; Malgudis, 1633 P Street, NW; Chen's Gourmet, 5117 MacArthur Blvd, NW; Sawah Restaurant, 2222 18th Street, NW; Grand China, 6925 Blair Road, NW.

All the restaurants have since passed re-inspection are back in business.

Dupont Circle lights go out, no reason released yet

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --  Monday morning's rush hour traffic around Dupont Circle in Northwest DC was a mess because all of the traffic lights around the circle were flashing.

While a WUSA 9 camera was there, technicians showed up and fixed the problem.

We have reached out to DDOT to find out what happened and are waiting for them to get back to us.


Police: Group of 10 people rob and assault victim

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police are looking to identify multiple suspects in connection to a robbery and assault incident in DC.

It happened at the 600 Block of Rhode Island Avenue, NE on Thursday night around 9:15 p.m. when a male victim was walking in the area. 10 people gathered around him, assaulted him and ran away with his property, police said. 

The victim is being treated at the hospital. The suspects are being described between the ages of 18 and 22, police said.

Police charge suspect who beat GWU professor

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Police have arrested a man in connection to the incident of a George Washington University professor being severely beaten by Dupont Circle, officials said.

James Brown, 38 has been charged with 'Aggravated Assault'. The assault happened at the 2000 block of S Street NW. on October 27 around 4:15 a.m. The victim was found unconscious on the sidewalk and is still in the hospital, police said.

According to the investigation, the victim said two males attacked him and they moved him from the middle of the 2000 block of S Street to the sidewalk where police found him, it said in a press release.
