Poor posture leads to a drop in energy, affects your mood, and contributes to chronic back and neck pains.  Slouching can make you look and feel older than you are.  Additionally, slouching decreases your oxygen intake: when you compress the diaphragm and ribs, full respiration cannot take place and the blood flow to your brain and extremities is slowed.  A remedy for poor posture is to pull your chin inward and pretend there is a string pulling straight upward from the top of your head.  I like to alternate my office chair with a swiss ball which will force you to hold yourself upright and in turn will assist in straightening your spine reflexively.  So straighten up.  Own it.
