Photo Gallery | PHOTOS: Protesters March To Sallie Mae Attached To Massive Ball and Chain To Symbolize Student Debt
Students, Occupy D.C. members, and members of the Backbone campaign joined forces Tuesday to protest the issue of national student debt.
The group congregated at Freedom Plaza at the corner of 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and put on caps, gowns, and price tags with varying student debt dollar values.
Protesters attached themselves with faux chains to a massive ball with the statement "$1 Trillion" written on it. The protesters, guided by a police escort, marched the 11 foot diameter ball down Pennsylvania Ave and headed for Sallie Mae's D.C. office, located at 7th and Penn.
