Upcoming Sierra Nevada Beer Dinner at new Elephant & Castle

Most of my posts are going to be about beer reviews in the greater DC area, specifically in Adams Morgan.  But, today, I had to write about a great beer event that I heard about from Aaron Gordon, manager at Elephant & Castle on 19th and I st., that is happening this coming Sunday September 19th.  Now, usually I am not big into promoting these things, but this is a great deal, and if you like Sierra Nevada, then this is a must attend event for you!  Here are the details:

A LITTLE SPICY AND A LITTLE CHARRED: INTRODUCING BGR’s SNOOKI BURGER

What would you put in a Snooki Burger, to pay homage to (or poke fun at) the wild star of MTV’s smash hit Jersey Shore?  BGR The Burger Joint’s www.BGRTheBurgerJoint.com founder and vice-chairman Mark Bucher took to Twitter and Facebook to ask his followers and fans what they thought a Snooki burger should be.

Delicious Dupont Circle Empanadas at Panas

Great lunch at Panas in Dupont.  Cute spot to get some tasty empanadas.

I tried the CubaNovo filled with pork, the Fiesta Cheese and the Popeye with sauteed spinach.  The Popeye was my favorite!  The dough has a perfect sweet flavor.  The empanadas are smaller than Julia's empanadas, but there are more options to choose from on the menu.  They also offer a variety of dipping sauces and salads.

The DC Burger War Rages On In Dupont

The gourment hamburger race all over D.C. has been going on for months now, and yet another new party is ready to enter the fray.

Shake Shack, a New York City based burger joint, is set to move into 1216 18th Street in Dupont. The space, which used to be home to Fuddruckers, is just a block away from Dupont Circle hamburger favorites Rogue States, and about three blocks away from BGR Burger Joint.

Scheduled to move into their DC location some time in 2011, Shake Shack will serve griddle-prepard burgers(which flame-grilled establishments like Rogue and BGR will almost certainly scoff at), dogs, those tasty Nathan's-style rigged fries, as well as shakes.

It will be interesting to see how Shake Shack stacks up against its new Capital city competition.  Not only will it have arguably the best Ray's Hell Burger across the river in Rosslyn, but it will also have Rogue States and BGR as its neighbors.
