Sprinkles in Georgetown Selling 'Red Cross Red Velvet' Cupcakes Today To Benefit Japan Relief

Today, Tuesday, March 22, Sprinkles Cupcake shop, located at 3015 M Street in Georgetown, is selling 'Red Cross Red Velvet' cupcakes to benefit the Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief efforts.  The charitable promotion is taking place today at each of Sprinkles' locations across the U.S..

100% of the proceeds from the charity cupcakes will be donated to the cause.  Sprinkles ran a similar promotion that raised $20,000 in one day for Haiti relief.

Sprinkles is open until 7 p.m. tonight.

Washington, D.C., (March 15, 2011) -- This May, Hank’s Oyster Bar located at 1624 Q Street NW, in the heart of Dupont Circle, will double in size, expanding next door incorporating a 1,800 square-foot space.  The addition features the new Hank’s Bar and Lounge, which also has a private dining room upstairs that can accommodate up to 24 guests for dinner. The expansion allows Hank’s to double the size of its popular outdoor patio with 40 seats for seasonal dining. The new Hank’s Bar and Lounge will also be introducing late night hours, serving until 2 AM weeknights and 3 AM weekends, making it a wonderful option for lingering over crafted cocktails before or after dinner in the restaurant.

Beginning tomorrow, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco Johnson will start a four day tryout with Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer.

Today, Monday March 21st from 1:30-3:30 p.m., the Brown Bag Eye Street location is inviting everyone to celebrate the new season with a free frozen yogurt giveaway. The restaurant also features a toppings bar to dress up the frozen treat. There you can find goodies such as blueberries, pineapple, strawberries, mangoes, granola, sugared pecans, coconut, and more. Offer redeemable one per customer.

As you know by now, I, like many of you, am a big fan of the D.C. food trucks.  However, as the concept and practice of the food truck continues to spread throughout the city, I have been growing slightly concerned that the standards of what a good food truck is might be slipping.  I was beginning to fear that as certain food trucks gained a strong reputation, that they might be getting less concerned with their product.

That was my thought process.  And then I had Sabor’a Street.

The bright yellow truck blasting Latin beats and serving up Latin American cuisine is the real deal.  After opening in late February, the truck has gained steam quickly.

Washington, D.C., (March 8, 2011) – Executive Chef Brian McBride is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Fleischer as the new chef de cuisine of Blue Duck Tavern, the 106-seat neighborhood restaurant located on the corner of 24 & M Streets, NW.

Fleischer replaces Michael Santoro, who served as chef de cuisine since March 2008.
