Washington, D.C., (March 15, 2011) -- This May, Hank’s Oyster Bar located at 1624 Q Street NW, in the heart of Dupont Circle, will double in size, expanding next door incorporating a 1,800 square-foot space.  The addition features the new Hank’s Bar and Lounge, which also has a private dining room upstairs that can accommodate up to 24 guests for dinner. The expansion allows Hank’s to double the size of its popular outdoor patio with 40 seats for seasonal dining. The new Hank’s Bar and Lounge will also be introducing late night hours, serving until 2 AM weeknights and 3 AM weekends, making it a wonderful option for lingering over crafted cocktails before or after dinner in the restaurant.

Hank’s Bar and Lounge will showcase a greatly expanded beverage menu with handcrafted cocktails, punches, affordable wines and rare microbrews selected by Hank’s newcomers Beverage Director Dana Mosbarger and Mixologist Megan Coyle.  The new cocktails will incorporate freshly squeezed juices and the highest quality spirits, which will be house-infused, along with cordials, bitters, seasonal tinctures, house-made grenadine and limoncello.  Cocktails will be priced from $8 to $12; Mosbarger’s intriguing wines by the glass will range from $7 to $15 and beers such as locally brewed Port City Porter and Cleveland’s Great Lakes Brewing Co.  priced from $6 to $8.

For late night nibbles, guests can expect to find snacks ideal for sharing from the Ice Bar menu including homemade pretzels, ceviche and fresh oysters along with an elaborate cheese board ideal for pairing with wine. Standouts include Tin of Smoked Oysters with Saltines; House-made Chips with Pan Roasted Onion Dip; House-made Soft Pretzels with Beer Cheese; Seafood Ceviche with Lime and Jalapeno; Old Bay Peel n’Eat Shrimp; Bags of Truffle Popcorn and Caviar Pie.   Prices range from $1.95 to $14.

Architect Eric Gronning of Gronning Architects Washington, DC is responsible for transforming the vacant row house, working closely with Leeds to create a romantic, hip neighborhood oasis. The entrance of the new bar/lounge will feature a 17-foot glass atrium ceiling.  The lofty ceiling height contrasts nicely with the small alcoves fitted with tufted leather banquettes and soft candlelight making this the perfect spot for a late night rendezvous.  Other design elements include a 14-seat bar of marble sided with blond wood and schoolhouse lights. 

The new addition makes Hank’s a great option for private parties and gatherings.  In addition to the new 24-seat private dining room, Hank’s Bar and Lounge will have a mezzanine ideal for receptions of up to 40.

The hours of operation for the new Hank’s Bar and Lounge in Washington, D.C. are as follows: Monday –Thursday from 5 PM to 2 AM; Friday from 5 PM to 3 AM; Saturday from 11 AM to 3 AM and Sunday from 11 AM to 2 AM.
