Favorite Fridays: What's Your Favorite Sushi Spot?

Sushi has taken off here in the United States. It’s not for everyone, but try it and you may be pleasantly surprised.

All types can be healthy, but you receive more vitamins from sushi made with vegetables, more minerals from sushi that is wrapped in seaweed, and more protein (and omega-3s, depending on the type of fish) from sushi topped with fish.

I love sushi...and Sake bombs so check out a few of my favorite spots and vote on yours!

SushiKo, Chevy Chase: The seared lobster and scallops are delicious and a must-try. My suggestion: If you want to enjoy this restaurant experience, select items that feature ingredient combinations that normally you wouldn’t try.

Raku, Bethesda: Fabulous sushi. Fresh, delicious, and in my opinion they make the best vegetable tempura and fried calamari. The steamed Chicken and Pork dumplings are by far my favorite item on the menu.

Café Asia,DC: I am a fan of Café Asia because Chef Yim puts a contemporary twist on all the Asian cuisines. The sushi, tuna sashimi, crab wonton, Singapore noodles, fried calamari, and my first Malaysian dish—Mee Goreng, (stir-fried egg noodles, dark soy sauce, chili, eggs, tofu, and bean sprouts) are a few favorites.

Bambu, MacArthur Blvd,DC: This is my family and my favorite restaurant. I recommend going during the lunch hour and ordering a bento box. They are only $10 and you get lots of delicious food including: rice, salad, 4-piece California roll, and a choice of miso, hot & sour, or wonton soup with your entrée. When we go for dinner I normally get the Kabuki roll (Tempura Shrimp, crab, avocado, seaweed and &cucumber.) The Sesame Shrimp is also tasty.

IKKO Sushi, Silver Spring: This place is known for their DC Monument Roll. With chunks of avocado, fish, and a sweet mayonnaise sauce on the top. (Not the biggest fan of mayo-but I tried it.)  It was pretty good, original and tasty, and I enjoy spicy tuna. Prepare yourself for a lot of food. I liked the 007 Roll and the Spider Roll.

Sei, DC: Love the ambiance, the Kobe Beef sliders, and the cocktails.
