The Owners Of Fast Gourmet To Launch Second Restaurant In Dupont | Restaurants
Get excited D.C. foodies: The people behind Fast Gourmet are getting ready to launch their second venture.
The restaurant, which will be called “TakEatEasy”, will be located at 1990 M Street in Dupont and should open by the end of March, Fast Gourmet General Manager and Co-owner Manuel Olivera confirmed in an interview.
“The concept is still being worked on,” Olivera said. “It will have a great quality of cuisine in a very calm and chill atmosphere. What we are going to try to achieve is produce a great quality of food in a very relaxed environment.”
Olivera said that TakEatEasy’s menu will be “more ambitious” than Fast Gourmet, the gourmet sandwich shop located in a gas station at the corner of 14th and W Streets NW, which has taken the city by storm.
“I’m not going to say (TakEatEasy) is going to be upscale, but it’s going to be more ambitious in terms of the quality of food,” Olivera explained. People can look for great homemade pasta. We’re going to make different kinds of pasta over there from scratch. We’ll have some select sandwiches from Fast Gourmet that we will try to do something different with. We’ll have a dinner menu with fish, steaks, and salads. “
And while TakEatEasy might be a step up from Fast Gourmet with regards to “ambition”, have no fear…the late-night hours will remain.
Olivera said the restaurant is planning on being open until midnight Sunday-Wednesday and until 5:30 a.m., with a special “late-night” menu, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.
Olivera also said that TakEatEasy will have happy hours where they hope to feature some “crazy drinks” as well as tapas.
“We’re kind of looking for customers to not only have great food but also to relax and disconnect from everyday life,” He said. “The way this place is gonna look will be very relaxed and chill.”
“The competition (by the new location around 1990 M Street) is kind of tight and everything and we’re going to focus on (offering an experience) that is new, young, and kind of lax,” Oliviera said. “It will be very laid back and youthful, but with a very high quality of food.”
