Four Course $55 Menu + DC Coast Summer Dinner Series

From Simone Rathle: Since its opening nearly 15 years ago, DC Coast has been a shining beacon for fish lovers looking for a sure port in a storm: from sea to sea, it brings the bounty of our nation’s oceans straight to the nation’s Capital.  Now it is proud to introduce the DC Coast ‘Coast-to-Coast’ Summer Dinner Series, a celebration of the three coasts that influence chef Jeff Tunks’ culinary vision: Pacific, Mid-Atlantic, and Gulf.

Take a three-month summer dining voyage featuring afour-course dinner menu for $55, Thursday-Sunday, with dishes carefully crafted by the seafood experts themselves: executive chef Matt Kuhn, under the tutelage of chef Tunks.

“I’ve always loved seafood,” says Kuhn.  He grew up deep sea fishing for snapper, mahi, and grouper, and when he heads home to Charleston, he makes a bee-line for Shem Creek, hits the raw bars and takes a bucket of beers out to the dock to catch the sunset.  “I love the breadth of the tri-coastal focus here at DC Coast.  It gives me a great excuse to be trying new things all the time.”

Starting in June, get whisked away to the West Coast and the Pacific with Chilled Olympia Oysters with Cucumber, Salmon Roe, and Fennel Pollen and mighty Grilled King Salmon with Tatsoi, Morels and a Cioppino-Shellfish Broth.  July takes things down way south to the warm, welcoming waters of the Gulf.  Fans of New Orleans will find the Gulf Coast Fritto Misto with Oysters, Shrimp, Crawfish, Bread & Butter Pickles and Spicy Créole Mustard or Pan Roasted Snapper with Rich Grits, Tasso Ham and a blessing of the Holy Trinity just what that strong summer sun ordered. And lastly, the summer series will end in August with a nod to what we love here in the Mid-Atlantic all season long.Fried Chesapeake Oysters partnered with a Sweet Corn Bacon Salad and Tomato-Basil Aioli,and Pan-Seared Skate with Corn Polenta, Sungold Tomatoes, Arugula, and Brown Butter will surely have guests toasting the East Coast, just as it is time to start bringing in our ships.

Be sure to call and reserve your spot today, because just as quickly as that summer sun slips away, so will the seats for this succulent seafood series. The DC Coast ‘Coast to Coast’ Summer Dinner Series will begin June 1, 2012 and ends August 31, 2012.  Each month will feature a four-course prix fixe menu highlighting one of three coasts: June - Pacific Coast; July - Gulf Coast; August - Atlantic Coast. Series menu will only be available Thursday-Sunday for dinner, $55 for menu and $75 with wine pairings – exclusive of tax and gratuity. The East Coast menu will NOT be available during Restaurant Week.
