We are so grateful to Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. and his DC staff, our first official Congressional foster office, for taking great care of Mocha and supporting our mission. We love our incredible growing team of life-saving foster volunteers!

Mayor Vincent C. Gray Announces Partnership with HUD

 

From Doxie McCoy: Mayor Vincent C. Gray and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Assistant Secretary Mercedes Márquez announced a collaborative partnership that will provide technical assistance to D.C. government agencies as they implement an improvement plan for grant administration. The plan results from an assessment that HUD conducted of the District’s granting programs.

Gray joined leaders from the government, private, philanthropic and non-profit sectors today in unveiling Raise DC, the District’s comprehensive new cradle-to-career initiative. The effort, which lays out a set of measurable outcomes and targets to ensure that all District youth are career-ready by age 24, joins a national movement of cities working to bring together a cross-sector group of leaders organized around a set of common goals and committed to using data to drive improvements.

From Karen Sibert: On Tuesday, February 21 from 6:30 p.m.-10:00 p.m., the D.C. Council will hold a public roundtable on Ward 5 economic development projects.

 

The purpose of this public oversight roundtable is to provide the public with an opportunity to learn about and comment on economic development programs/projects in Ward 5.

 

GWU Names Former Congressman Mark Kennedy Director of the Graduate School of Political Management

 

From Jill Sankey: The George Washington University today announced the appointment of former Congressman Mark Kennedy (R-MN) as director of the Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) and professor of political management in the university’s College of Professional Studies (CPS).  He brings to the position vital first-hand experience in electoral politics and public service as well as a background as a business leader who has taught at leading academic institutions on the intersection of business and politics.
