This story comes to us from Karen Sibert:

WASHINGTON, DC – Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown has announced David Zvenyach’s appointment as acting general counsel. Upon confirmation by the full Council, he will be named general counsel for the body.

Zvenyach has been serving as chief of staff in Councilmember Mary Cheh’s office since August 2008. He is a graduate of The George Washington University Law Center and the University of Wisconsin, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Following law school, Zvenyach clerked for Chief Judge of the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Yvette Kane. His work experience also includes the Office of the Inspector General at the National Science Foundation and the law firm of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP in Washington, DC.  He is a member of the District of Columbia and New York Bars.

“David will bring a wealth of knowledge to the Office of the General Counsel,” said Chairman Kwame R. Brown.  “I look forward to working with him on matters involving Council procedures and ethics, contracts and legislative reviews, as well as a host of other legal issues.”

Says Zvenyach, “I am honored to be nominated for this position.  If confirmed as chief legal advisor to the Chairman, members and officers of the Council, I will work tirelessly to validate their trust and support.”
