Brown to Host Business Meeting with D.C. Certified Business Enterprises | Politics

From David Meadows: At-large Councilmember Michael A. Brown, Chair of the Committee on Economic Development and Housing, is hosting a listening roundtable meeting with local business owners on the pending and upcoming economic development projects available for Certified Business Enterprises (CBE) on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Washington DC Economic Partnership, 1495 F Street, NW 20004 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

The meeting titled, “Navigating Economic Development and Business Opportunities in the District of Columbia: Identifying and Eliminating Hurdles to Local Business Success” will provide opportunities for local D.C. contractors, including minority business owners, small business owners and entrepreneurs to learn about and navigate government programs and policies to successfully grow. 

Councilmember Brown will be joined by owners of local Certified Business Enterprises (CBE), DC-based businesses that receive preferred procurement and contracting opportunities, to listen to their concerns about the regulatory processes and challenges in being awarded government contracts. The roundtable will also foster ideas to help provide greater avenues for local businesses to prosper and thrive via government funded economic development projects.
