Will Karma Find Kony?

Will Karma Find Kony?

“Share Kony 2012, make this guy famous, remember his face because it can be the last time you see it…”

It’s on everyone’s lips, everybody is talking about it, he really is famous now -thanks to social media and the people. But who’s also famous is its creator – Jason Russel, was that supposed to happen?

Kony 2012 is a short film created by Invisible Children, Inc. It was released on March 5, 2012 and it’s purpose is to promote the charity’s “Stop Kony” movement to make indicted Ugandan war criminal and the International Criminal Court fugitive Joseph Kony internationally known in order to have him arrested this year of 2012.

From my own experiences, I know that the film was spread quickly like a rumor in a high school, and before you took the time to spell the name “Kony” – the video had over 85 460 779 views and still counting…

Love Is Not In The Air, It's On The Net!

Love Is Not In The Air, It's On The Net!

He was actually not prepared for this, he was just amazed. How can one mans trash be another mans’ treasure?

It was a windy and cold Sunday night when he thought about trying out something new, something he never done before but heard so much about.

He sat down in front of the computer and said the word out loud to himself, thought for a bit and then spelled the word on his browser’s search bar and pressed enter. Never did he think that it would change his life.

The first person he saw completely made him gasp for air, was she true? What was this? A joke? What is wrong with her? – So many questions, so little time, so he wrote hello and it all started from there…

They talked for minutes, hours, days and months. Time flew by like the sand in an hourglass and feelings grew like never before, like the first flower of spring until it fills up the garden of love. That’s how he felt, like the first flower on the field.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

I recently watched the movie Snow White while babysitting for a friend’s daughter so she could get out.  The last time I had seen the movie was many years ago when I watched it with my kids.  As I have witnessed many times in the past couple of decades, the message of Positive Self Talk was loud and clear.

When the evil queen asked, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest one of all?” The mirror’s reply, “Snow White” made the evil Queen furious. You see, it wasn’t enough for the Queen that she was beautiful.  Instead, the Queen chose to see that she wasn’t enough. There was someone more beautiful than she.

This is the Fourth of an Eight-Part Feature on the designers’ vision and progress at the DC Design House, which is underway and set to open on April 14th.

Designers are mixing new and old in this year’s DC Design House to give the spacious home warmth and character. For instance, Sharon Kleinman of Transitions in Potomac, MD, http://www.4transitions.com, designed a custom bench for Space 11, the Master Bedroom. “I use modern pieces such as the custom bench with acrylic base and combine it with an antique black lacquer wedding chest,” says Kleinman, who is thrilled to be able to use her work as an interior designer to support such a wonderful cause.

For Shazalynn Cavin-Winfrey of SCW Interiors in Alexandria, VA, www.scwinteriors.com, being included as one of the designers in the 2012 DC Design House is “the most prestigious invitation for a designer.” But it also means sprinting to the finish line. “Being selected to design for the showhouse is a bit like being crowned homecoming queen then having to run a marathon in your ball gown while collecting items for a scavenger hunt,” Cavin-Winfrey says. It’s also one of the highlights of one’s career, she notes.
