Condoms Connected To Your Character?

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- "Join The Rubber Revolution." It's an attention-grabbing website title the DC Department of Health hopes lures people to practice safe sex, in a city marred by its staggering HIV rates.

The site is in seven different languages, including Spanish, French and even Chinese. However, the message is the same in every dialect: use condoms, prevent the spread of disease and unwanted pregnancies.

www.rubberrevolutiondc.com also has quirky quizzes, seemingly unrelated to a person's sex life. For example, the "What Kind of Condom Are You?" quiz asks you questions about how you order food at a restaurant.

Amnesty International Activists Demonstrate for the Release of Indonesian Prisoner

This story comes to us from Aaron Barnard-Luce:

Amnesty International activists will protest in front of the Indonesian embassy on Thursday, November 11, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. to demand the release of Filep Karma. He was imprisoned in 2004 for taking part in a flag-raising rally commemorating the declaration of Papuan independence.

Speakers at Thursday's rally will include Amnesty International USA Mid-Atlantic regional director Folabi Olagbaju and will be joined by West Papuan activists.

A court sentenced Karma to 15 years in prison, on charges of treason for "betraying" Indonesia by flying the outlawed Papuan flag.

My Quest for Healthy Ice Cream: Becoming a Vegan Gelato Artisan

I was in an awful jam; one that you may be in, yourself.

I loved ice cream so much that when I would buy a pint, I would eat a pint.  No need for freezer space. As soon as I got it home from the store, it was gone.

For years I knew that I had to find a way out.  I didn’t want to gain weight, clog my arteries, or spike my blood sugar…all eventualities from the “pint-of-ice-cream-daily” diet.  Nor did I want to contribute to enslaving cows or warming the globe, two unfortunate side effects of milk production.

What to do?

Searching for a stunningly delicious, nutritious, animal-and-earth-friendly frozen dessert, I came up empty-handed. My conclusion: I would have to create this product myself.

As I pondered how to proceed, I realized that I had finally found my green business idea.
