Suspect Sought in DC Jewelry Store Burglary

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a burglary at a Northwest jewelry store. 

The burglary occurred on Wednesday at approximately 10:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of G street, N.W. The suspect smashed a display window of a jewelry store and removed several rings and fled the scene, DC Police said. 

Police are describing the suspect as a Hispanic male in his early to late 20's, approximately 5'3" to 5'6" in height, slim build, with curly black hair. 

He was last seen wearing dark pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a navy blue coat with horizontal stripes, police said.

Japanese Tea Ceremony Celebrates Cherry Blossom Festival

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) ---  The 101st National Cherry Blossom Festival offers locals a viewing of a Japanese Tea Ceremony.

At the Japan Information and Culture Center, a local Japanese tea club shows what it takes to prepare and offer tea to your guests. The preparations are a part of an ancient tradition dating back to feudal times in Japan.

The tea rituals of cleaning the bowl and other acts embody a set of values known as Chado or "the Way of Tea." These values celebrate mental tranquility, purity and harmony.

Children Found Wandering Street; Va. Mother Arrested

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two children were found wandering in a neighborhood in Manassas on Friday morning, Prince William County Police said in a news release. 

The mother, Esmeralda Carolina Acosta Montoya, 28, of Manassas, was arrested about 45 minutes after police were notified that the kids were missing, police said. 

It happened at around 10:28 a.m., when a person called police, informing them that the caller had found the two children wandering, police said. 

"The caller located two children, a 3 year old girl and 5 year old boy, walking the area above unsupervised. The caller took the children to nearby Westgate Elementary School where police were notified. The investigation revealed that the accused had left the children in a locked room of the residence while she was gone for about for two hours," police said. 

Charged with two counts of felony child endangerment and she has been released on a $4,500 bond.

Feds: Jesse Jackson Jr. Misused Campaign Funds

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Jesse Jackson Jr., former representative from Illinois, was charged with using campaign funds for personal items like furniture in his home and other luxury items. 

Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi, were implicated in the federal investigation, officials said. 

Jackson released a statement on Friday, claiming he has no excuses for his conduct and he accepts full responsibility for the charges. 

Sandi Jackson reached a plea deal with federal officials. She plead guilty to one charge of tax fraud, according to her attorneys.
