Councilman Evans To Host Birthday Celebration, Inviting Whole Community

Councilmember Jack Evans will host residents from around Ward 2 on Wednesday, October 27 to celebrate his birthday and introduce his new family, including wife Michele Evans.

The event will take place in the Homer Building atrium (601 13th Street, NW) from 6:00pm-8:30pm. 

“I look forward to welcoming friends and colleagues from around the Ward and city to celebrate with me and my new family,” Evans said.  “If you are in the neighborhood, I hope you’ll stop by.”

Evans expects over 100 seniors to join him along with a host of constituents from around Ward 2.

DC Triathalon Opens Registration for 2011 Race, To Take Place on Sunday, June 19, 2011

The 2011 DC triathalon race will take place on Father’s Day, June 19, 2011.  The event will include both a Sprint distance (.8k swim, 20k bike, 6.7k run) and International distance (1.5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) course along DC’s most scenic parkways and national monuments.  The race will finish on America’s Main Street – Pennsylvania Avenue – with the U.S. Capitol Building as the backdrop.

Registration fees are $135 for the Sprint distance and $190 for the International distance.  Prices will increase on October 29, so competitors are urged to register early.  To register, go to www.DCTri.com

Wizards Players and Staff Act as Waitstaff, Serve Military Personnel at Morton's Steakhouse

On Thursday, October 21, Washington Wizards players and staff showed their military appreciation by serving food and drink to Military personnel at Morton's Steakhouse located at 1050 Connecticut Avenue near Dupont Circle.  As you can see in this video, some players were more talented waiters than others.

The Tigerlily Foundation's motto is “impacting young women’s lives before, during and after breast cancer.”   It has been helping local victims of breast cancer with financial assistance when breast cancer strikes, and health insurance may not be enough.

Breast Cancer Survivors Take to the Runway on Oct. 21st for Key to the Cure in Chevy Chase

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! And you can do your part to support this important cause while also enjoying an altogether delightful evening.

Key to the Cure sponsors are planning an evening to remember with shopping, entertainment, cuisine from local restaurants, and, of course, a fabulous Key to the Treasure raffle. At 6:00 p.m., prior to the evening’s runway show, event co-chairs Maura Fitzgerald Shannon and Linda V. Courie will host a cocktail party for all Key to the Cure guests. 

On the runway, swimsuit designer Minno Mobin-Ventura of Belafigura Swimwear will team with breast cancer survivor models to showcase her exclusive Miami-inspired, upscale swimwear line for mastectomy patients.

Last night, DC Magazine celebrated its fifth anniversary. The event, which was wall-to-wall packed with interesting and beautiful people, happened at PNC Place at 800 17th Street, NW, in the District.
