For the past six months, more than 40 neighborhood organizations, workers’ advocates, ANC officials, community leaders and clergy have worked together to craft an Enforceable Community Benefits Agreement ensuring that living standards and the quality of life for DC workers and residents would improve if Walmart opens four stores in the District of Columbia. Mayor Vincent Gray says he also wants a community benefits agreement with Walmart, but his negotiations with the company have not yet included community representatives.

 

That’s why the Living Wages, Healthy Communities Coalition will hold a rally to demand respect and their rightful seat at the table in negotiations with Walmart:

The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District (BID) recently launched its 2011 summer concert series, which includes a free concert every Wednesday during the month of June from 5:30pm-7:30pm in Farragut Square Park.  The park is bordered by K Street, I Street, and 17th Street, NW.


Grab dinner from your favorite downtown restaurant and relax in the park while enjoying some of the most popular local music talent in the District.  Upcoming concerts include:

WASHINGTON, DC – The Latino GBLT History Project will celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Latino community at its Fifth Annual DC Latino Pride celebration on the first floor of Town Danceboutique, 2009 8th St. NW, Washington, D.C. on Friday, June 10 from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. LGBT Latinas, Latinos and allies in the Washington Metro area will be treated to an incredible evening featuring guest speakers, panelists, a historical exhibit, appetizers, cultural performances, and Town's legendary cash bar.
