White And Dirty Linen Nights at Cajun Experience

This event comes to us from Sebastian Flores:Authentic Louisiana restaurant Cajun Experience (1825 18th St N.W.) is hosting a White Linen Night on Saturday, August 6th, from 4 - 6 pm. The event will bring a piece of Louisiana to Washington, DC in commemoration of New Orleans' annual summer White Linen block party, a culinary and crafts tradition that dates back to 1994.

To celebrate this southern tradition, Executive Chef Thomas Schoborg will host an exclusive cooking demonstration on Saturday, August 6th. For $25, excluding the cost of alcohol, guests of the event will learn how to make Cajun delights Boudin Balls, Seafood Gumbo and Bread Pudding. Participants will take home menus and recipe packets and are encouraged to don white linen attire, a summer convention reminiscent of the time before air conditioning was brought to New Orleans.

On August 7th, Cajun Experience will also host a Dirty Linen Sunday event starting at 3pm, featuring alcohol tastings and expert commentary. With tickets available for $25, this cocktail-oriented night will give patrons a special look at the process of making perfect Cajun cocktails such as Hurricanes, Sazerac and Pimm's Cup. Guests will also be treated to an Abita Beer flight featuring five brews of the Southern drink.  Dirty Linen night will also showcase Cajun Experiences' new bloody mary bar, treating guests to three bloody marys at three different heat levels. Just as the Southern tradition calls for, Washingtonians are encouraged to wear their soiled white linen ensembles to celebrate the stains picked up on Saturday.

Tickets to each event are $25 sold separately, or $40 for both events. For tickets or reservations call Cajun Experience at 202-670-4416.
