GLOV to Participate in First Annual LGBT Volunteer Fair

This event comes to us from Hassan S. Naveed:

Washington, D.C. – Gays and Lesbians Opposing Violence (GLOV) – D.C.’s LGBT Anti-Violence Task Force – is pleased to be participating in the DC Center’s First Annual LGBT Volunteer Fair on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at District. With biased crimes against LGBT persons at an all time high, already up over 40% compared to this time last year, it is critical for GLOV to have a strong presence in the Washington metropolitan area.

As an all volunteer organization, GLOV relies on the support and dedication of volunteers to help raise awareness community-wide, advocate on behalf of victims of hate crimes and for better police response and protection, provide victim assistance and prevention information and resources, and engage members of the legal and law enforcement community to provide training and greater understanding of hates crimes against the LGBT community. Individuals interested in joining GLOV or assisting us with a variety of volunteer needs are encouraged to visit our booth at the LGBT Volunteer Fair.

GLOV will also be tweeting live at the event, so please follow us at #GLOVDC, on Facebook or online at http://www.glovdc.org
