U.S. Department of Education Assistant Secretary Thelma Meléndez de Santa Ana, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Russlynn Ali and Assistant Secretary for Postsecondary Education Eduardo Ochoa will deliver remarks at the National Association of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Leadership Initiative 6th Annual Summit on the State of Latino Education, Monday, Sept. 27-Wednesday, Sept. 29 in Washington, D.C.

On Monday evening at 5 p.m., Dr. Meléndez de Santa Ana will provide an update on the Department’s priorities and discuss ways that the Department and Latino leaders can work together to better address the needs of Latino students.

On Tuesday Assistant Secretary Ali will participate in a luncheon panel session entitled “Capitol Leadership Luncheon—Rethinking Teacher Quality as Part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act,” where she will join panel members in a discussion on ensuring teacher equity in high-need communities and hard to staff subjects.

On Wednesday, Assistant Secretary Ochoa will discuss the administration’s focus on access to higher education, college completion and post-graduate educational advancement.
