DC Magazine Celebrates its Fifth Anniversary in Style

Some people just understand luxury. Clearly, the leaders and staff of DC Magazine are among those in the know.

Last night, DC Magazine celebrated its fifth anniversary. The event, which was wall-to-wall packed with interesting and beautiful people, happened at PNC Place at 800 17th Street, NW, in the District. And while a bank seems an unlikely location for such a gathering, it ultimately proved to be top-notch.

DC Magazine is one of 13 city-regional magazines published by Modern Luxury Media, a style authority. DC Magazine is noted for its coverage of all-things-fine with respect to dining, nightlife, design and travel. But it’s also respected for its know-how regarding cutting-edge fashion, with coverage spanning local, country-wide and international trends.

At the fifth anniversary celebration, Karen Sommer Shalett, DC Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, thanked guests for their ongoing support and also for their faith in the Magazine and its concept. The Magazine’s Publisher, Peter Abrahams, likewise expressed gratitude, offered thanks to the Magazine’s staff, and asked his very willing guests to raise their glasses for a toast.

"Real Housewife' and Founder of Labels for Love, Mary Amons, and her husband Rick, were among the guests present, as was Stylist Paul Wharton. Matt Landsberg, President of Eric Finn Custom Clothiers, attended, as did April Jones Firoozabadi of MyDCStyle. Washington Post Fashion Writer Holly Thomas shared in the celebration, as did Nichole Marie Devolites and Wendy Gordon, President of Hisaoka Communications. Other guests included Kristina Bouweiri, President and CEO of Reston Limousine, Kara Allan of Kara Allan & Associates, and Heidi Kallett, President and CEO of The Dandelion Patch. The list of notables goes on. And it’s lengthy.

Suffice it to say that last night, DC Magazine offered up quite a celebration. And so, it’s only appropriate to extend wishes for ongoing success to this trendsetting member of D.C.’s publishing community. Happy Birthday, DC Magazine.
