The Unthinkable Has Become A Reality: $5 For A Gallon of REGULAR Gas in D.C.

The Unthinkable Has Become A Reality: $5 For A Gallon of REGULAR Gas in D.C.

I don't even know where to go with this anymore: The Watergate Exxon continues to leave me, an incredibly talkative person, lost for words.

The notorious gas station located on Virginia Avenue between Foggy Bottom and Georgetown has managed to do the impossible: They are now officially charging $5 for gallon of regular gas.

(Insert jaw drop here.)

For those of you who aren't familiar with this Exxon and its history, here's a brief rundown:

In October, I wrote an article about the station, which at the time was charging a ridiculous $4.25 for a gallon of regular gas.

Tips for Eating Healthfully From a Vending Machine

Tips for Eating Healthfully From a Vending Machine

We live in a fast-paced world and, at one time or another, we have all found ourselves face to face with a vending machine, looking for a snack or beverage. The problem, up until now, has been that vending machine food was always synonymous with junk food or unhealthy options. But a new company has set out to change the way people see vending machines, and the nutrition that they get from them.

“Maybe it wasn’t easy to find healthy, tasty food from vending machines before, but we have made it our mission to change that,” explains Jolly Backer, the chief executive officer of Fresh Healthy Vending (www.freshvending.com). “Now, people can get a nutritious snack or beverage, whether they are playing, working, or at school. We are on the move and hopefully coming to an area near you soon.”

Washington Humane Society - Meow Mixer

If you’ve ever visited one of our shelters, you know that there are far more cats available for adoption that there are dogs. This is not a problem found just in DC, nationally, cats out number any other animal entering shelters by at least 2 to 1!

As summer approaches more and more cats will enter our shelters looking for new homes and we will be doing everything we can to provide people with the opportunities to meet the perfect cat for their life. One of our favorite ways to introduce people and cats is through our “Meow Mixers”. These one of a kind events bring people together for an evening of fun and education about adopting cats, bringing cats into your life, introducing a new cat to a home where cats already live and so on.

DC Mayor Proposes Medical Marijuana Rules

WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray has officially proposed the rules governing the growing and dispensing of medical marijuana.

D.C. voters approved medical marijuana in 1999, and Congress allowed the district to move forward with it two years ago. Since then, D.C. officials have been hammering out the details.

The rules proposed Thursday by Gray will take effect once the D.C. Council approves them or 90 days have passed. At that point, Gray will be free to assemble a five-member panel that will review and approve the applications for growing centers and dispensaries.

The rules call for 10 growing locations and five dispensaries.

Medical marijuana would be available only to patients with chronic medical conditions such as HIV, cancer, glaucoma or multiple sclerosis.
