FotoDC and the National Cherry Blossom Festival announced the winners of the National Cherry Blossom Photo Contest on Wednesday. The contest, which drew over 2,200 submissions from 696 local photographers, provided rich competition for the judges in three categories: landscape, people, and festivities.

DC Launches Cancer Answer Hotline

WASHINGTON DC (WUSA) -- The District has launched a free hotline for people fighting cancer, those dealing with a new diagnosis, and people serving as caregivers for people with cancer.

DC Cancer Answers can be reached at 202-585-3210.  The resources hotline was created by the DC Cancer Consortium and it is funded by the DC Department of Health.

The hotline is linked to the American Cancer Society's regional call center in White Marsh, Md.  That can be reached by anyone nationwide by calling 1-800-227-2345.

VIDEO: U Street Locals React To Shooting at 14th and V Streets

A number of locals gathered around the scene of a shooting at 14th and V streets in NW this afternoon, a violent incident that has left many U Street community residents concerned.

"It's just getting silly, like this shooting," said one U Street local.  "The community is getting fed up over it, worried, scared, especially in broad daylight...you're concerned."

Check out the video above to see more reaction from U Street neighborhood residents, including one man who said, "You can't even walk in the streets without something happening...people can't go about their normal business without someone doing something outlandish like a shooting in broad daylight."

Join Stratford University’s Falls Church campus for its annual Spring 2011 career fair. Attendees will be able to meet with local employers to learn about job opportunities, as well as learn about various programs the university offers including Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality Management.

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
